Fiorentina after Luisão
zoom - galleria Fiorentina are seeking an adequate replacement for central defender Alessandro Gamberini who’s on the verge of quitting the Tuscan side.
Failed negotiations regarding a contract extension is the main motive that could lead to Gamberini seeking a lucrative transfer to another club.
Benfica defender Luisão has recently been tipped for a transfer to the Viola and the player has previously been linked to other Serie A clubs such as Inter, AC Milan and Juventus.
Fiorentina are now said to be seriously considering a swoop and beating the competition of the three aforementioned clubs to net the defender.
“We are looking for a new central defender as we need to strengthen the team”, said Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino.
“We are following Luisão with great attention and his name does indeed appear on our purchase list”, declared Corvino.
26 year old Luisão switched Brazilian side Cruzeiro for Benfica in 2003.
He has become a top-notch defender in the Portuguese league and he would look positively upon a possible Serie A move
